Duns Wetland Restoration

It is hoped that restoration of a wetland between the new Duns High School and Duns Park can be combined with improved public access, with a footpath and raised boardwalk being constructed at this site. An already wet area within one of the fields between the school and the park could be excavated to form a series of small ponds and wetland areas, and this will attract more wildlife, especially birds, such as duck, reed warblers and perhaps water rail. Frogs and newts should also benefit and a small viewing platform beside the path will allow the public and school students to experience wetlands and wildlife safely at close range. Funds are being sought from local sources for this project, which will benefit the people of Duns.
